Terms of use

These terms are the agreement between you and TravelPal LLC ("we") for the Athena app. By downloading or using Athena you accept them.

What you get

• Athena is bought once on the App Store. It comes with a set of artworks, each with its story: as a film, as narration with the picture on screen, and as text.
• We may add works to the set that comes with the app. Works added to that set cost nothing extra. We do not promise how many will be added, or when.
• A museum's stories and guides can be bought inside the app. Each is a one-time purchase, not a subscription: you are charged once, and there is no recurring charge.
• A museum's page, its visitor information and its links are open to everyone who has the app.

Prices and payment

• Every purchase is made through Apple, with your Apple Account. The price on the button is the store's own price in your currency.
• We never see your card or any other payment details.
• Prices may change at any time.

Restoring purchases

What you buy belongs to your Apple Account, not to one device. On a new device, or after deleting the app, open Settings and tap Restore purchases, signed in with the same Apple Account. Restoring costs nothing.

Refunds

Apple takes the payment and decides on refunds. To ask for one, go to reportaproblem.apple.com. When Apple refunds a purchase, what it opened is locked again.

Using Athena

• Athena is for your own personal, non-commercial use, on Apple devices you own or control.
• Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies to the app as well. These terms add to it and do not replace it.
• The films, narration, stories and guides are ours. Please do not copy, sell, publish or redistribute them, or take them out of the app.
• The pictures and the music keep their own licences, which are listed under Copyright and credits. Nothing here limits what those licences allow you to do with them.

What to keep in mind

• The stories are written from published sources and checked against them, but a mistake is always possible. Athena is for learning and enjoyment; please tell us about anything that looks wrong.
• Opening hours, prices, rooms and what is on display change. Works are moved, lent and taken off view. Check the museum's own site before a visit.
• Athena is independent. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by any museum it describes.
• Art history includes nudity and violence, and some works in Athena show them.
• A story's narration and full-size pictures are downloaded the first time it is opened. That needs a connection and may use mobile data.

Changes

• We may correct or improve a story, replace a picture, or add works at any time.
• A picture, and rarely a work, may have to be withdrawn, for instance if the rights to a picture change.
• These terms may be updated. The date under the title is the day they last changed; the terms in the app are the ones in force.

Our responsibility

Athena is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect loss, and our total liability is limited to what you paid for Athena and its purchases. Nothing in these terms takes away rights that the consumer law of your country gives you.
