Privacy

Athena is made by TravelPal LLC. This notice says what the app does with information about you. The short version: we collect nothing.

What we collect

Nothing. Athena has no accounts and no sign-in, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking. It does not ask for your name, email address, location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone.

What stays on your device

• Your choices: what brought you to the app, and the playback speed.
• The works you saved, the ones you opened recently, and where you stopped in each story.
• Your answers to practice questions.
• The narration and pictures already downloaded.

All of this is kept on the device only and is never sent to us. Reset app data, in Settings under About, clears your choices, saves and progress; Settings, then Manage downloads, removes what was downloaded; deleting the app removes everything. If you back up your device with Apple, your choices and progress may be part of that backup, under your own Apple Account.

What goes over the network

• Stories. Narration, full-size pictures and museum information are downloaded from our storage, which is hosted by Microsoft Azure. As with any download, the server sees the device's IP address and which file is asked for. We keep no log of these requests and use them for nothing else.
• Purchases. Buying and restoring are handled by Apple. We receive no name, email address or payment details. The app learns from Apple only whether a purchase belongs to your Apple Account, and that answer stays on the device. Apple sends us sales totals that do not identify anyone. Apple's own privacy policy covers the purchase.
• Links. A museum's site, its map, and Apple Maps open outside Athena, and their own privacy policies apply there. Before opening a museum's map, the app asks the museum's site whether the map is still at its address.

Children

Athena collects nothing from anyone, whatever their age.

If you write to us

If you send us an email, we use your address and what you wrote only to answer you.

Your rights

Because we hold no information about you, there is nothing for us to show, correct or delete. Everything the app knows is on your device, and you can clear it there at any time.

Changes

If what the app collects ever changes, this notice will be updated. The date under the title is the day it last changed.
