Hilton and Amex launch Canada's first Hilton Honors card with complimentary Gold status

The card earns 6X Hilton Honors Points on eligible purchases at Hilton properties, 4X on eligible gas, grocery and dining purchases in Canada, and 2X on all other eligible purchases. Complimentary Hilton Honors Gold status brings benefits on eligible stays such as bonus points, a daily food and beverage credit or continental breakfast depending on brand and region, space-available room upgrades, digital check-in and Wi-Fi. Spending $12,000 in a calendar year adds 50,000 bonus Hilton Honors Points, and $40,000 in a calendar year triggers an upgrade to Diamond status with executive lounge access and a 48-hour room guarantee.

Points stays booked entirely with Hilton Honors Points carry no blackout dates and no resort fees, and the fifth night is free on eligible all-points reward stays. The card also includes American Express benefits such as Front Of The Line presale access, travel insurance coverage and 24/7 Global Assist. Applications are open through American Express Canada.

Key points

  • $150 annual fee; supplementary cards at no additional cost
  • 6X Hilton Honors Points at Hilton properties, 4X on eligible gas, grocery and dining in Canada, 2X on everything else
  • 50,000 bonus points at $12,000 calendar-year spend; Diamond status upgrade at $40,000 calendar-year spend

Tip: If you are considering applying, map the two spend thresholds to a calendar year rather than your card anniversary: $12,000 unlocks the 50,000 bonus points and $40,000 unlocks Diamond status. Weigh the $150 annual fee against how often you would use Gold status perks like breakfast or food and beverage credits.

Aeroitalia selects Delta TechOps for Boeing 737 component support

The agreement extends a relationship that moved into connectivity in 2025, when Aeroitalia announced links between its Italian domestic network and Delta's global network; the new pact carries the partnership into maintenance and technical operations. Aeroitalia says combining the component-sharing system with an on-base spare parts kit should reduce procurement times for replacement parts, limit aircraft downtime and improve availability across its 737 NG fleet.

Delta TechOps, which Delta describes as North America's largest MRO provider, says it recently reported $1 billion in year-to-date MRO revenue and supports more than 150 customers across six continents, servicing over 100,000 aircraft components annually through 25 in-house component shops. Delta also says it is the only provider in the Americas certified to support the CFM LEAP, Pratt & Whitney GTF and Rolls-Royce Trent engine families.

Key points

  • Announced Oct. 28 at MRO Europe in Amsterdam; scope covers component support for Aeroitalia's Boeing 737 fleet.
  • Arrangement pairs a component-sharing system with a dedicated spare parts kit at Aeroitalia's main base.

Expedia Group adds AI tools and One Key lounge, price-drop benefits

The Points Guy reports the rollout spans several brands. Hotels.com has an AI comparison feature for plain-language hotel comparisons and follow-up questions, while Vrbo offers natural-language search. Vrbo is also preparing Reserve Now, Pay Later for eligible homes with no upfront cost, though a card must be on file. Expedia is adding flexible packages that let travelers fly into one city and stay in another, an Activity Planner, multiroom booking tools, family-friendly maps, an AI Property Expert and a refreshed homepage.

For One Key, The Points Guy reports Gold and Platinum members can use the LoungeKey Network when an eligible flight booked through Expedia is delayed at least 90 minutes, covering the member and up to nine travelers; the booking window runs through Dec. 31, 2027. Members may instead choose One Key Cash. Those tiers also receive free One Key Price Drop Protection: if the price falls before departure on a flight that showed Price Drop Protection at booking, Expedia automatically provides the difference in One KeyCash. All One Key members get a CLEAR+ discount that varies by status.

Key points

  • Expedia Group announced 30 new or enhanced features across Expedia, Hotels.com and Vrbo, including AI search, itinerary planning and flexible booking tools.
  • One Key Gold and Platinum members can get LoungeKey access for eligible flights delayed 90+ minutes, for the member and up to nine travelers, on bookings made through Dec. 31, 2027.
  • Vrbo's planned Reserve Now, Pay Later will let guests book eligible homes with no upfront cost, but a card must be on file.

Tip: One Key Gold or Platinum travelers should book eligible flights directly through Expedia and check for the Price Drop Protection label before paying; lounge access applies only to qualifying flights delayed 90 minutes or more and booked by Dec. 31, 2027.

Offer ends: 2027-12-31. Check the source for current availability and full terms.
