A workout can ask both hands to be somewhere other than the screen. That is the small interruption behind the DongDong 1.2 update: reaching over to add a few seconds, move to the next step or start again.

DongDong is TravelPal’s home workout app for iPhone and iPad. You choose your equipment, preferred intensity and time; the app suggests a routine and guides you through it with demonstrations, recorded coaching and captions. The 1.2 update lets you control that session with your voice.

A few words instead of another tap

Turn on optional Voice Mode, select English or Mandarin, and wait for the player to say Listening. Say Continue to start or resume immediately, or Pause to take a break. Next, Previous, Add 15 seconds and Reset show a 3–2–1 confirmation first.

That confirmation matters. During the countdown, Pause or Cancel means “do not make that change”: the pending action is cancelled and the session returns to its prior playing or paused state. Moving to the next or previous step starts it automatically once confirmation completes.

Voice Mode is off by default. A first-workout guide explains how to turn it on, and the command reference remains in Settings. Coach narration and listening are separate choices; users can keep touch controls and still hear the coach.

Keeping recognition on the device

Speech is processed on your device using Apple’s built-in recognition. DongDong does not save recordings, collect voice data or upload your speech. Apple language models may need an initial download; there is no server-recognition fallback. Touch controls remain available on unsupported devices.

There is no account, no advertising and no tracking. Workout preferences and progress stay local, while the recorded coaching and demonstrations are bundled. An initial Apple language-model download is a setup requirement on some devices, separate from recognition of a workout command.

A little more variety in the everyday routine

Version 1.2 also broadens suitable daily selections and exercise combinations, rotating away from recently used choices when alternatives fit. The routine still respects the equipment, intensity and session length selected. Today’s saved workout stays stable; Another workout makes an explicit new selection.

The regular and full-screen players keep their demonstrations, captions and saved viewing choices. A larger Resume control makes it easier to carry on after a pause.
